The Mosaic Mirror Man: Gustav Troger

Following a lead from mosaic artist Karen Rycheck of Talent, OR(http://www.missmosaic.com) we went to the Flickr account of Ryan Roush to find these . . .

It's the Mosaic Mirror Man! We won't even begin with the mirror metaphors -- they are legion. The more we looked at these photos, the more we loved the whole idea. We had to get down to the bottom of this so we contacted the photographer, Ryan Rousch.

All the mirror pics were taken at the Los Angeles observatory. It was an incredibly busy Saturday and I was taking pictures of the city when my wife called me over to see this guy dressed in mirrors from head to toe. His English was rough, but from what I could gather he was an independent artist that designed and built that suit for the sole purpose of traveling around and having pictures taken at landmarks.

The experience was incredible. The way the light was dancing all over as he walked around was mesmerizing.

I was so glad to have been there with my camera. I was the only one who asked him for a portrait and ended up on the ground having him bend over me. I think it is the best shot; it looks out of this world.

About me... I picked up a digital camera about 4 years ago and have been teaching myself the ins and outs of photography. I am starting to take focus more on people now, but in the genesis I was all about landscapes. I am married and live in LA. I support myself by working as an engineer.
Ryan tells us that he has found the website of the artist at www.gustavtroger.com. There are just a few more photos of the Mosaic Mirror Man there along with some other very interesting works including a mirror car and horse. Intriguing stuff. Troger likes to play with expectations.

To see more photos like these, go to Ryan's flickr account here. We thank him so much for allowing us to blog his great photos.

Enjoy -- Nancie
