Grab the Popcorn: Videos on Laurel Skye and Tina Amidon

We love a good movie . . . especially when it's about a mosaic artist. Two great videos came to our attention this past week and we're excited to share them with you.

Mosaic Adventure with Laurel Skye by Lisa Lynne

Talented Celtic harpist/composer Lisa Lynne pays homage to mosaic artist/author/teacher Laurel Skye in this lovely video with a lilting, haunting original score by Ms. Lynne. Ms. Lynne takes us on a trip through Ms. Skye's home and studio in Arcata, CA. "Along with her daughter Kiah, they have created a home like no other. You can go there and see that their home itself is a work of Mosaic art. You can take workshops, get supplies and be completely inspired to created a beautiful world of your own." Indeed.

For more on the amazing Ms. Lynne, who appears to be a one-woman music consortium worthy of coverage by media notables like NBC and the Wall Street Journal and whose CD's consistently end up in the Billboard Top 20 (whew!) click here.

Allegorical Reliquary by Eric Blum

California mosaic artist Tina Amidon's work "Allegorical Reliquary-Mosaic Chapel Fountain" recently debuted at Annie's Annuals in Richmond, California. It was unveiled on Mother's Day because the chapel is in honor of all the invisible work women do -- hence the aprons on the dancers. Amidon makes art with abandon and she knows how to throw a good party. Mr. Blum captures many Kodak moments in this wonderful video of celebration.
