This popped into my inbox this morning -- an update on where people can see the work of Hildreth Meiere and order that gorgeous catalog. Our thanks to Hilly Dunn, Ms Meiere's granddaughter for all of this great information. Enjoy -- Nancie
Hi Nancie,
I have great news. The Hildreth Meiere exhibition is traveling from the Quick Center at St. Bonaventure to the National Building Museum in Washington, DC. It will open to the public on March 19, 2011. One can go to the HM website or to the museum's website for more information.

For those not familiar with the museum go to this link: http://www.nbm.org/about-us/
The National Building Museum is the perfect location for the exhibition since the majority of her work is on the exterior or interior of buildings. Hildreth has come first circle. Her first architectural commission was the National Academy of Sciences.
For those that go to see the exhibit will also be able to go visit her other commissions that are in Washington, DC. Hildreth's papers are also at the Smithsonian Archives of American Art.

Best,
The National Building Museum IS a great place for the show. It's one of our favorite places to visit and it's on the subway line. I'll be sure to note this in an All Art Friday when the date gets nearer.
ReplyDeleteMaureen, that would be wonderful. The family is really working hard to see Hildreth acknowledged as one of the greats. She deserves it!
