Scenes from an Exhibition: Cutting Edges

The party may be over in Lake Oswego, but the effects will be long-lasting according to Sonia King, mosaic artist, "Cutting Edges" Juror and founding Board Member of the Society of American Mosaic Artists. She sent us the following yesterday:

"The Cutting Edges exhibit showed the infinite possibilities of mosaic art to a wide, general audience. It acted as a magnet, pulling mosaic artists from the United States and Canada together. It was a relaxed and intimate gathering, encouraging a lively exchange of thoughts about the state of mosaic art, technical issues, materials and more. As artists, we work alone in our studios and don't often have the opportunity to spend time in a relaxed and casual environment, talking about our work, making unsuspected connections, affirming our common bond: No matter what differences there may be in our styles and materials and techniques, we all stick small pieces into adhesive on a larger substrate. I hope more events of this kind will reach out to the public and bring our community of mosaic artists closer together."
